Blog Anniversary ~ #Life

Hi All,

I just realized that my 2nd year as a blogger has come and gone.  I have been so busy with my networking, reviews, and giveaways I totally forgot about it.  I try to post everyday but being a mom to two young kids and a full time job both eats up my time - but I do try my best.

I want to say Thank You for your support by either following me, commenting, re-tweeting, and re-pinning.  Most importantly I want to thank the Sponsors for providing me materials I could work with.  Almost everyday I reach out to Sponsors and some have been successful and many are still a work in progress.

Please continue what you do and hopefully more doors will open up to me as I work beside the pros and gurus and bring you much more reviews & giveaways for you to enter.

I love you guys and I thank you.

Planting with my daughter ~ #Life #NatrelOrganic

I had the pleasure to create my garden from Natrel.  It has been awhile since I did some planting and I am no green thumb, not even close.  I was provided with some pots and tools to create the vertical garden but I have no place to hang it so I decided to lay it out on my back door porch to get plenty of sunshine, rather than having it indoors during the summer.  I had my daughter help me fill up the pots and plant some spinach seeds.  It was what I was given a few weeks back and never used them so it was perfect.  This activity with my daughter drew in some neighbourhood kids watching us planting the pots.   After we were done, I told my daughter it is her responsibility to water the plants unless it rains.  Maybe this project might make my daughter into a true green thumb?  She might end up being a better planter than I will ever be.  Thanks Natrel www.natrel.ca/organic/

My Vacation this Past Week ~ #Life

Yes!  I was off this past week.  Been very busy with the girls.  Once I go back to work, I know I will have a pile of catching up to do.  It always feels like a punishment for taking some time off.

One day I took my oldest daughter downtown to do a little shopping and have some ice cream at Mushies.  I love the idea where I pay by the weight of the ice cream because I could mix it up with as much flavour I want and how little I want in my cup.  The best of all is that I dont have to share with my daughter.  She could pick the ones she wants and I pick my own.  We didn't go over board and I spent under $4.

The next day I took my oldest to to IKEA!  We managed to grab their $1 breakfast and free coffee since I signed up to their membership.  I dropped my daughter at the playland for 40 mins while I did a quick shopping in the store.  In the end I bought two kids IKEA stools for $8 each.

I did mention that I would take my oldest to the movies.  I wasn't sure which one to see since I like a showing closer to noon so I have enough time to pick up the little one.  I try to avoid watching 3D movies since it does not fit well on top of my glasses.  For most people it is fine but I have a small Asian nose so I cant put two glasses on my nose.  We decided to watch Despicable Me 2 since it was the only one showing around noon.  We both enjoyed the movie but I think I enjoyed it more than my daughter.

It has been so long we went on a road trip so we decided to head over to the US side for a day trip.  The traffic and crossing was horrible but we finally made it in one piece.  One of the stops we had to make was the Lindt store.  They sell my favourite Marzipan chocolate that you can only purchase in the US.  There is a Canadian version but it is not as good as this little piece of heaven.  After we grabbed some lunch at Five Guys, I was a bit disappointed that there was nothing I like at my favourite stores - Anne Taylor, Banana Republic, Forever VVI and Sephora.  I left empty handed.  However we did stop by Best Buy to purchase a new pair of head phones and books for my daughter at Barnes and Nobles.  I have never been to Barnes and Nobles before today and it felt like walking into Chapters.  I did finally purchased a Michael Kors purse.  Too bad the sale is not as good as the Coach Factory Outlet.

We finally got the chance to go strawberry picking.  My daughters had a blast eating them than putting them in the containers.  I love the taste of warm strawberries that have been soaking up the sun.  It makes is so sweet and tasty.  I just cant believe we picked over $7 of strawberries.  They were $2.25/lb.  On our way home we picked up a tub of vanilla ice cream and a few homemade apple turnovers.

This has been a very busy week for me and I have a few plans for the girls this summer.  It looks like it is going to be a busy summer for us.

Story Time with Santa ~ #Mommy

This year we attended Story Time with Santa at the Toronto Eaton Center.
A few weeks ago I decided to sign up for this event because it sounded like fun.
When we arrived we were greeted with friendly faces.  We hung our jackets, parked the stroller, and relaxed in the lounge with cookies and drinks.
Just before Santa arrived, we all gathered in the reading room that had animal shaped bean bags scattered on the floor.  The kids were in awe and excited so they all decided to go crazy and were hopping from bean bags to bean bags.
After a few minutes of the kids getting everything out of their systems - Santa walked in.
He read a story to the kids for 10 minutes and then it was time for each kid to sit with Santa.
When we first signed in, each of the family was given a number to track who goes first without the chaos.
We brought our cameras and took as many pictures as we could in less than 3 minutes.
In the end, each child received a little gift after the visit - which was very unexpected.  It was a perfect touch to end a wonderful experience for the kids.

I believe  this is the second year that the Eaton Center hosted reading with Santa.  Eaton Center wanted to try something different than the other malls to avoid the usual long line ups.  Each family needs to be registered online to keep the numbers reasonably low.  While each family is waiting for their turn, they can wait comfortably on those fun bean bags or sit in the lounge and munching on cookies or watching a kids program playing on one of three TVs.  It was fun and I would recommend this to other families to enjoy this experience.

Playtex Diaper Genie Elite ~ #Review

What do all new moms and dads needs?
I will give you a hint - It is white, chic, affordable, and would make your diapering days easier...
It is the Playtex Diaper Genie Elite.

It is amazing how much this version is better than the original version I had about 6 years ago.
I remember how annoying the original was.  I had to open the Diaper Genie manually and it was a pain to take the soiled diapers out.
This new and improved version is a step-open can and it is much easier to empty out.
One other feature I really like about this is it has it very own cutter attachment to cut the bag.  Before, I would be running around the house looking for scissors.
There is one minor issue when I try to close the diaper genie after I open it up to empty the soiled diapers.  I have a minor struggle lining it up to snap it shut.
Other then that, it is a perfect household item that will keep your house smelly free of dirty diapers.

Available at ToysRUs (?) for C$45.99 and the refills are C$8.99

Christmas Gifts ~ Mom

Just before I wrap them up.  I wanted to show you what I have purchased for my girlfriend's sons.
I purchase Christmas present through the year to get the best deal.
The cookie cutters were from William Sonoma on sale for $4.99 (Reg $29.95) and the Toothbrush holder was from Walmart on sale for $4.50 (Reg $9).  Now I wished I bought another cookie cutter set to keep for myself.

I have to assess my list but I am either done or almost done with my Christmas shopping.  I have even finished creating my Christmas card list.

We are back!

Wow, after more than two days of cleaning and purging I have finally finished.
It is not the best but it is the best I could do at the moment with two young kids.
After all that work a few didnt show up to the party and I am left with all that food...I was so worried that there was not enough...Boo.

Hopefully starting next week or so, things should go back the way it should.

Left you a big piece of cake...anyone?

Progress!

There has been a bit of progress during the past few days.
I have made a dent in my cleaning frenzy.

I ended up with this huge donation pile.
I mean huge enough that filled the truck and back seats of the car.
Now I have some living space back.
It is not perfect but it is a start.
Can't wait for the kids to out grow their toys and clothes so I can start selling them.
No, that is not our car...Hahaha
One more cleaning day then I have to get ready for the party...rushing to get everything done.

Busy, busy, busy

The past few days I have been so busy cleaning and purging.
My yard looks better than ever before.
I want the house to look decent before this weekend because we are having company over.
I don't want them to come in to see if I had a tornado or something...

Why?
It's going to be my baby girl's first birthday.
Even though she wont remember it but it is a milestone for the me to say - "Yeah! I made it..."
It was a bit bumpy but I have everything under control...sort of.

How She Does It?

A mother of two - you learn how to juggle/multi-task.
Here are a few of my tips

  • Use a calendar all the time and try not to double book yourself.
  • Plan ahead if you can.
  • Find short cuts (two birds with one stone) ie when purchasing take outs make sure there are some leftovers for snacks for later.
  • Make use of the crock pot - mother's best friend.
  • Have your hubby cook dinner a few times a week.
  • Not afraid to have someone to help you like your husband, grandparent, or aunts/uncles.
  • Pick your battles.
  • Don't sweat the small stuff.
  • Take one day at a time and if laundry/dishes does not get done - it is OK, it can wait.
