April 22, 2018 is Earth Day. Back in December 2017, L'OCCITANE Canadian flagship boutique at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre was fully redesigned with a strong sustainability focus at its core. For the first time in North America, L’OCCITANE Yorkdale offers an in-store bottling recycling program in partnership with Terracycle. Customers can bring in any full size product of any brand to recycle, and will receive a 10% discount on any purchase.
L’OCCITANE strives to positively contribute to the environment in other ways as well. Our packaging uses already-recycled materials, most notably our Eco-Refills offer bestselling formulas with 80% less plastic than a bottle.
Some examples of our bestselling Eco-Refill options, including our Almond Shower Oil, Immortelle Precious Foaming Cleanser, and Aromachologie Repairing Shampoo.

Check Out: New Roots Cabin, at Yorkdale in Toronto
Roots new enhanced experience store, the Roots Cabin, at Yorkdale in Toronto. It's a new location that is approximately double the size of the old store. It opens to the public August 24 at 10 a.m. A key feature is the Customization Workshop, a world debut, where people can customize their Roots jacket design.
The Roots Cabin Experience
The ‘Roots’ character comes to life in the Roots Cabin. Inspired by the open air that allows us to escape the everyday, recharge and reconnect, the aesthetic of the redesign is organic, comfortable and open. At the heart of the redesign is the locally sourced millwork from expert craftspeople from across Ontario. Reclaimed wood and Ontario cedar surround the countless artifacts from the Roots Canada archives: an original ‘R’ sign from an early flagship store, the machine that made the first negative heel shoe and an array of celebrity Award Jacket replicas. “Each design choice in the space was influenced by our heritage: lighting fixtures inspired by our Leather Factory, the sign in our Footwear Department that hung over the door of our first store circa 1973, an oversized skylight that floods the store with natural light and transports our shoppers into the open air,” Gabel expands

The Customization Workshop
The Customization Workshop is an interactive, collaborative creative space that is digitally connected to The Roots Leather Factory (located only five kilometers away in Toronto, Canada). Tactile samples are paired alongside a digital interface, where customers can see their custom designs come to life on screen. Roots heritage styles such as The Award Jacket, The Student Pack, The Small Banff Bag and The Downtown Tote can all be customized and personalized. Customization Experts guide customers through the same process that Roots celebrity ambassadors have enjoyed over the decades. Monogramming is also available for all Roots leather good purchases.
The Lounge
The in store Lounge allows guests to relax on Roots leather furniture, charge their phones and enjoy a refreshment while they socialize outside the enhanced change room experience. The Lounge also doubles as an intimate spot for live performances and interactive listening sessions—it is set to become a new hub for Roots cultural events and underscores Roots longstanding commitment to Canadian music and culture. eCommerce converges with the physical store experience in the ‘endless aisle’ area, a space that gives customers the opportunity to order online, pick-up and try on their online orders, and browse through inventory on roots.com or any store throughout Canada.
About Roots
Established in 1973, Roots is Canada’s leading lifestyle brand known around the world for its quality leather goods, footwear, athletic wear and accessories. For more information visit www.roots.com.
