It was confusing at first when the movie flips between reality and dreamland. I had to watch the movie twice to grasps what I missed the first time. I didn't mind watching again since I enjoyed the movie.
It was the last day of Kokone Morikawa before her summer vacation. She was reunited with her childhood friend Morio who was home for the summer. Kokone's dad was a mechanic and was take in by the police. He sends her a text not to trust a bearded man. The bearded man shows up and tries to take Kokone but luckily Morio helps Kokone escape and she later discovers that her dreams and reality are interconnected. Every time Kokone dreams, there are hidden clues to explain what is going on in reality.
Whenever Kokone falls asleep, she dreams of a place called Heartland. There is a king in Heartland who loves his daughter. His daughter has magical powers. The King is worry about his kingdom from the attacks from the evil Colossus. It attacks the kingdom because it is attractive to the magic from the princess. Then the fun part is to compare the people and events happening in reality to everything happening in Heartland.
I have always enjoy watching anime with the original Japanese voice actors with subtitles but you don't have to. It comes with English and French Dub so you don't need the subtitles.
