For the longest time I had used the brushes that came with the cosmetics which are not the greatest tools to use. They are usually rough, stiff, and hard to use. Then I knew I needed to hunt to find the perfect set of brushes. After a few trials and errors I have fallen in love with Real Techniques brushes. Real Technique brushes/products are designed by sisters, Sam and Nic Chapman, the stars of the UK’s No. 1 YouTube beauty channel, Pixiwoo.
Real Techniques has a few new brushes recently launched that I was very excited to try. Let me introduce you to the Silicone Liner Brush (C$8.99) which is great for using liquid gel/cream liner makeup. This is my first silicone brush and I love it. There is no bristles on this brush and the silicone on this brush is very flexible. This brush does not absorbs any makeup like the regular brush liner. It has a fine tip for making precision lines for the ends of your eyes. The best way to use this brush is short little strokes to make a straight line. This is also the best technique if you don't have steady hands regardless if you are using a pencil or a brush. The silicone is very soft and gentle so it is perfect to use near the eyes. It does not feel pleasant to scratch any where near the eye area. It was very simple and easy to clean.
The next new Real Techniques product is the Miracle Complexion Sponge (C$9.99), an multi functional tool to give an even, clean look when apply makeup on. Brushes can leave foundation streak marks which are annoying but the sponge leaves a flawless air brush effect. The angles on the brush works perfectly for the corners of the eyes and nose. The opposite side of the angle on the brush can be use to apply concealer on to hide any imperfection like blemishes. The belly of the sponge can be use for cream blush and powered foundation. I didn't like applying my cream blush with my fingers and this sponge was the perfect tool I needed for the blended look. This sponge works like a dream for a fraction of the price of the most expensive ones out there. Like its given name, this is really a miracle sponge.
