New Kashi Products & Plant it Forward ~ #Review

Can you believe this but Kashi has been around since 1984.  I had only discover this brand maybe 5 years ago.  I think I recall a commercial of a woman eating cereal called Kashi and that was how I discovered this brand.  I had tried their cereal, snack bars, and crackers in the past.  I am very excited to try their latest products they have launched this year.

Kashi

Since its founding 1984, Kashi has stood for nourishing people and planet with progressive nutrition.  The company is carrying on that tradition with the introduction of new cereals and snack bars featuring unique nutritious ingredients such as chia - a trend-setting superfood - and flax, and new cereal offerings that are gluten-free, certified organic, and Non-GMO Project Verified.  This year, Kashi is making it easier than ever before to eat positive!

As part of an ongoing commitment to deliver positive nutrition inspired by current food trends.  Kashi is introducing a new selection of gluten-free, certified organic, and Non-GMO Project Verified cereal offerings for a simple yet delicious breakfast you'll love waking up to.  Kashi Organic Promis Simply Maize cereal features whole organic corn for hearty, crisp flakes and a touch of molasses for the perfect sweetness.  Kashi Organic Promise Indigo Morning cereal combines a delicious blend of puffed golden corn flakes bursting with real blueberries and blackberries for a tangy sweet flavour.

Chia seeds are leading the way as one of the hottest food trends of 2014.   Packed with proteins, fibre and Omega-3s, this small-but-mighty superfood provides big nutrition in a tiny package.  Now, Canadians nee look no further than the snack bar aisle to add chia to their snacking routine.  New Kashi Chia Granola Bars, available in Cranberry Lemon and Dark Chocolate, Almond & Sea Salt flavours, are bringing a unique twist to the snack bar category.  And, with 0.2g of Oega-3 and 4g of fibre per 35g bar, they are as nourishing as they are delicious.

The benefits of chia are also coming to the cereal aisle with the introduction of new Kashi Nutty Chia Flax Multigrain cereal.  Its nutty flavour, satisfying light crunch, and perfect blend of chia, glax and walnuts, is a delicious way to start your morning.  And, with each 3/4 cup serving delivering a cource of Omega-3 polyunsaturates and 5g of fibre, it's a nutritious way to start your morning, too.

The first cereal I have decided to try was the Indigo Morning because of the blueberries.  I wish there were more dried blueberries since I only saw a few of them.  So to compensate I added my own fresh blueberries which are in season right now.  I really like the cereal and so does my little one.  I also love that they are Gluten Free. She wanted a bite and she thought at first it was popcorn because of its shape.  She really enjoyed this cereal too.  The other cereal I also did enjoy was the Nutty Chia Flax because it has a nutty flavour.  These cereals are a great way to start my mornings.

There are many times I am so busy I usually grab a granola bar.  If you like dark bitter chocolate then the Dark Chocolate is the one for you.  I had also tried which I liked was the Cranberry Lemon.  It was sweet & tarty from the cranberry and citrus flaoured from the lemon.  It was very tasty and enjoyable.

Partnering with Evergreen, a not-for-profit organization committed to green cities and a healthy planet, this spring Kashi is building and supporting 18 community gardens across Canada. Together, they will help increase access to fresh, healthy, locally grown foods for urban communities across the country. Community residents will take part in the planning process and help build a garden that will provide real food to nourish their family and friends.

“Kashi created the Plant it Forward program in partnership with Evergreen to highlight the importance of real, fresh food,” says Jenn Carkner, Senior Brand Manager, Kashi Canada. “We’re committed to encouraging healthy eating and living in a way that’s practical, educational and true to the spirit of Kashi.”

Kashi is also making a donation to support Evergreen’s mission to inspire and enable action to green cities. Every time a Canadian watches Kashi’s Real Food Manifesto video, $1 will be donated to Evergreen (to a maximum of $50,000).

The Kashi Plant it Forward Kick Off Event
To launch the Plant it Forward initiative, Kashi and Evergreen are creating a brand new garden at the Toronto Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club in Cabbagetown on Thursday, May 15. The club, which services more than 1,300 children and youth each year, will see its concrete landscape transformed into a thriving vegetable garden.

Walking the Walk
To further underline its commitment to real food and non-GMO ingredients, Kashi has recently introduced two new products. Kashi Organic Promise Simply Maize and Kashi Organic Promise Indigo Morning are both gluten-free and certified organic, in addition to being part of Kashi’s growing line of Non-GMO Project Verified cereals. The line currently features ten products and Kashi is committed to growing this number – over half of its food will be Non-GMO Project Verified by the end of 2015. It’s just one more way that Kashi is working to support its mission to nourish people and planet.
