Medieval Times in Toronto is Absolutely Amazing ~ #Review

Huzzah! I received my Medieval Times tickets a few days before the event and I couldn't wait to go.  I wanted to surprise my daughters since they asked me when we were going there again not too long ago.  Medieval Times is just one of those places you have to visit especially if you are a tourist visiting Toronto.  During our evening, we had some guests from all the way from Australia!  How cool was that.

Make sure you arrive early.  There are so many things to see and do before the show.  There is a bar and a great gift shop where you can purchase a pretty crown or an impressive sword.  We were fortunate to receive the King's Royalty VIP pass.  It is so worth it because you get to keep a photo with the Princess or the King and that alone I believe costs roughly $20.  You take that photo first thing you enter into the Castle.  You also get to be seated first and in the front row.  You will also receive a Cheering banner, VIP Lanyard, and a Knight's Rally Towel you can take home.

The Castle doors will open 75 minutes prior to the show time printed on your tickets or 60 minutes prior for an 11am show.   I would highly suggest you arrive early because even you made reservations the seating is first come, first served and to obtain the best seats available you should arrive as early as possible.   The main entrance, the Hall of Arms, is where all the guests hang out.  There is also a full-service bar and if you are brave enough you can visit the museum of torture for additional $2.  Don't miss the pre-show where the audience gathers around to watch some guests get to be knighted by the king for fun or for some special occasion like a birthday or an anniversary.  I love the commentaries between the King and Lord Chancellor during the Knighting Ceremony since it always makes me laugh and set a great mood before the show.

The dinner consist of tomato bisque, garlic bread, ½ chicken, herb-basted potato, corn cobbette, and a slice of lemon pound cake for dessert.  If needed, they will of course substitute with vegetarian meals and gluten free meals.  If you have any allergies concerns please let them know in advance.  The meal also comes with non-alcoholic drinks and of course you can order from their full-service bar.

Make sure you are ready to cheer very loudly and very often to help boost your knight's morale.  There is a total of six sections for six knights.  The knights are colour coordinated with the colour of the seating arrangements.  We were lucky to be seated in the blue section because our blue knight was very talented and won every tournament.  Whenever the knight won a tournament he would be given 5-6 carnations by the Princess for him to pass out to his fans.  This causes a lot of cheering to get the Knight's attention that he will throw the carnation in their direction.  Once all the tournament is over, each Knight would selection the "Queen of the Tournament" from each of their section with a ribbon the guest could keep.  My youngest daughter was so lucky she got to be chosen and she was beaming all evening.

Our Blue Knight was awesome.  He won all the challenges with the other Knights and he was the champion for the evening.  He had the opportunity to pick one female from the blue section to be the "Queen of Love and Beauty".  Since he was the champion, he was to face the villain that was introduced earlier of the show.   Just remember that each performance there is a different Knight naming the champion of the evening.  We were just lucky to be sitting in the winning Knight section.  Of course after the show, the guests return to the Hall of Arms where they could purchase the photo they taken with the King or Princess or take a new one with their Knight of the evening.

It is an amazing 2 hour show that everyone should visit.  The energy from the audience always make the whole event very entertaining.  It is always fun when everyone participates in the cheering and booing.  The food is amazing and there is so much of it.  Just remember you will be eating with your hands since there is no cutlery during that era.  Every time I visit Medieval Times I have always enjoyed the dinner and show and so will you.
