If you are as old as me, you might recall a video game called Sonic The Hedgehog which I played with my brother on his Sega Genesis game console. Mostly I remember of the game is collecting gold floating rings and once in awhile becoming super sonic and blasting my way through the game. Sonic became so popular in the video game industry that it has its own animated show.
Sonic Underground is a cel shading animation so it is not your usually CGI animation we see today. If you have watched Volume 1, I bet you will like Volume 2. This collection has more action-adventure for Sonic and his siblings, Sonia and Manic. The series is really different from the video game. All three of them are part of a band, Sonic Underground, and they are the children of Queen Aleena. They battle Dr. Robotnik from his evil plans.
When you are watching the series, it might make you feeling nostalgic if you watched it in the past. You don't have to be a fan of Sonic to watch it. Both my daughters enjoyed watching it. I have lost count how many times they made me re-play the DVDs. It has some pretty good songs that I enjoyed listening too and it even has a catchy theme song. It is also a sad theme song when they showed the Queen had to abandon her kids.
It is one of the classics you have to have to add to your collection. It is a great gift idea for any kid's birthdays. During any bad weather, you can pop this in and have a Sonic-a-thon until the weather clears up.
Join Sonic (voiced by Family Matters Jaleel White), and his siblings, Sonia and Manic, as they fight to be reunited with their long-lost mother, Queen Aleena. In this second and final set of episodes, we return to Dr. Robotnik having his sights set upon Queen Aleena's crown jewel, which glows as it moves closer to her. Sonic, Manic, and Sonia need to recover the jewel before Dr. Robotnik does. They need to do this not only to find their mother but also to protect her from Dr. Robotnik. Will they succeed? When they aren't battling Dr. Robotnik and his henchmen, Sonic and his siblings make time for their rock band, Sonic Underground. With over seven hours of content, this final set is sure to showcase all the best Sonic episodes from the tunes to the great battles. Based on the popular SEGA videogame character, this Sonic the Hedgehog collection is a must-have for all Sonic fans!
