I can’t believe summer went by so fast and the kiddies are now back at school. This summer I was extremely busy and trying to keep my head above water. My daughter started school and she was already asking me when her next PA Day is. I guess that is what is to be expected. This year, she will be getting homework every day and one of them she will be given some words each week to practice her spelling. Guess what! I am so glad I have the Boogie Board to help my daughter memorize for her Friday spelling test.
At first I had no idea what a Boogie Board was. I saw them at my local Costco but I had no idea what it was. So when I received a Boogie Board Sync 9.7 in the mail I was jumping for joy. When I took it out of the box, my family was very curious to see what it was. They wanted to see it before I had the chance to charge it. It won’t work without charging it, of course. For a second I had no idea what to do with it. There were no instructions on the box except a diagram of the board. When I charged it I thought it would take all day but it was done before I knew it. Then I just took out the pen and wrote on the board. Boom! It worked! Easy Peasy...simple as pie. It was so simple my 3 year old daughter knows what to do with it – literally.
After I saved a few documents I was wondering how I would retrieve them. I just plugged it to my laptop which treats it as an external hard drive. There were two folders – delete and saved folder. I thought it was strange it still save deleted documents but I guess it is for when you might accidentally press the wrong button or deleted something you had wished you had saved but didn’t. They are saved as pdf files and there is about 2G of hard drive space.
You would not believe how much paper we would save in this household. My daughter learns her words from actually writing them out repeatedly. We could easily use a pad of paper within a month. Sure I could use a white board but that tends to be messy. Who wants black ink on their fingers?
This Boogie Board is just the beginning. I could see it could expand to a bigger screen size, different size pens, ability to change the colour of the “ink”, and a bigger hard drive space. I think the Boogie Board is a great educational tool and day to day use.
There is no more searching for scrape paper or looking for notes I have misplaced. You have no idea how many times I have wasted trying to find important notes I had written earlier. It came with no user manual but I found actually found it on their website. It is a great idea. User manuals are a waste of paper so providing a link to the instructions or written on the box is the way to go.
You can use Bluetooth to sync and save with Evernote, email and social media using the Sync desktop and mobile application. I downloaded the app from the App Store for free and took me awhile to figure out how to sync it to my ipod touch but once I figure it out it was super easy to use. I was my fault since I didn’t know how to use the Bluetooth on my ipod touch. Now I do! I was ecstatic how easy it was for me to use it and syncing it only took me a few seconds.
There are different boogie boards available so discover which one meets your needs. It would be great to see paper eventually become obsolete. It is a great way to save all those trees and clutter! About 50% of my clutter is paper. I have mountains and drawers full of papers, it is insane. Love to get rid of them one day. I would also love all my all receipts be sent to emails like some retailers but let’s save that discussion for another time.
Both my daughters and I love it. Six thumbs up! It is user friendly and so easy to use. I think everyone should have one. It is a great idea as a birthday present or even as a Christmas present (hint, hint).
Boogies Boards are available at Amazon, Indigo, Costco, Staples, Future Shop, and selected Hallmark to name a few.
