Organized? I am nowhere near being even remotely close to being called organized, but I do try my best.
As a mother of two (some times 3 if you count my husband) I have to be on top of things, and I have to be very flexible and pick my battles wisely. Us moms can only do so much in 24 hours.
So here are my top 3 tips that will help you to get yourself "organized":
1. Prep Work
Before I go to bed at night, I usually have lunches all ready in the fridge, clothes all laid out, and other miscellaneous things I could do that evening so that I don't need to worry about them in the morning. When I do plan ahead, mornings are fairly easy.
2. Calendars
I use two calendars. The first is a large monthly calendar posted on our fridge door. It marks all the family's important appointments, events, trips, birthdays, etc. The second calendar is on my desktop at work. For any important deadline that I have to do, I set an "alarm" that pops up to remind me of my duties. For those really, really important appointments or things I have to do - I set it on my phone to remind myself. I know most people have it all on their iphone/blackberry but I find it easier to have work and family on two different calendars.
3. Pre-Cooked Meals
When coming from a hectic day at work and trying to take care of two kids, who has the time to cook? It is easier to heat up leftovers in the fridge. There are a couple of ways to do it. The most common way is to cook on Sunday to feed an "army" and spread it out over the week. Sometimes when I order Chinese take-out I order extras for leftovers. When I purchase a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken, I purchase two so I could save one for lunches or the next evening dinner.
