L'Occitane Ultra Soft Balm ~ #WomensDay & #Review

March 8, 2016 is International Women's Day and in some countries like China, Russia, Vietnam, and Bulgaria it is a national holiday.  It is a day to celebrate women's successes and achievements of women past, present and future.  The first International Women's Day dates back 1911, (March 19) where 1 million women and men "campaigning for women's rights to work, vote, be trained, to hold public office and end discrimination."  It was later in 1975 where the United Nation designated March 8 as International Women's Day.

2016 L'Occitane Ultra Soft Balm ~ #WomensDay

Every year, L’Occitane En Provence creates a one-of-a-kind, limited-edition Shea Butter product to celebrate International Women’s Day. 2016 not only marks the 40th anniversary of L’Occitane but also marks over thirty years of cooperation between L’Occitane and the women of Burkina Faso, who produce all of the companies’ shea butter. Today, there are more than 17,000 women involved in the cooperatives, where they are paid over three times the market price for their incomparable product, an initiative recognized by the United Nations in 2013.

L'Occitane is selling ultra soft balm that 100% of the net profits will be donated to organizations that promote women's entrepreneurship.  The Ultra Soft Balm is an rose-scented, multi-purpose moisturizer made with 96% shea butter - the multi-talented beauty ingredient.  Ultra-nourishing and protective it can be on the lips, body and hair, and slips easily into your handbag, so you can keep it with you wherever you go.

If you have not tried L'Occitane Ultra Soft Balm yet, I would highly recommend that you try it.  I really enjoy using it.  I can't believe how soft the 96% shea butter feels.  I love the rose scent.  It is not strong but it is noticeable.  I mainly use it for my lips because they are always so dry.  I also like the colours on the pretty little tin.  This cost only $6 which is a fantastic price for a limited edition 20g L'Occitane Ultra Soft Balm.  Get them soon to avoid any disappointments.  Last year, I tried to purchase one for my mom and they were gone!  Sold Out.  It is a great product and for a great cause.

For the 2016 Solidarity Balm, L’Occitane has combined the gentleness of Shea Butter, the mysteries of rose and the colours of African traditions. Each balm retails for $6 and 100% of the profits will finance NGO projects for women’s leadership in Burkina Faso, with the support of the L’OCCITANE Foundation. This year, the French beauty brand hopes to see that donation reach 281 000 € worldwide.

The brightly coloured design and motifs are evocative of wax-print fabrics, which are worn by Burkinabé women during ceremonies that play an important part in the life of the community. Wax fabrics are a symbol of multicultural expertise, steeped in history and traditions. The cloth is not just a garment, but a reference value, a sign of social status and a symbol recognized and accepted by all.

Since L’Occitane began promoting women’s entrepreneurship and supporting different organizations through the L’Occitane Foundation, 6,000 women have been given access to microcredit loans, savings plans and training programs within the framework of projects supported by the French NGO Entrepreneurs du Monde. Additionally, 900 women have gained literacy skills as part of the program led by NGO Aide et Action. With the moisturizing, nourishing and protective benefits of Shea Butter, L’Occitane is making it easy to pamper yourself while giving back on Women’s Day 2016.

  1. Wow! I didn't realize some countries held a HOLIDAY to celebrate women! That certainly is a huge step for some places where the equality is not like it is here in North America!

  3. I've not tried the L'Occitane Ultra Soft Balm yet but it sounds like a great product. I also love the limited-edition Shea Butter tin too :-) If in some countries like China, Russia, Vietnam, and Bulgaria it's a national holiday to celebrate women why don't we have the same here?
