The Body Shop ~ Review & Giveaway

Yes, I am a huge fan of The Body Shop.  I have been shopping in the store for over 15 years+, and I am not the only one.  My mom and my girlfriends shop there too!
At one point friends use to ask me what I wanted for my birthday and I gave them 3 words "The Body Shop".  It was that simple.

The Body Shop kindly sent me package to try some items for this season's Holiday Collection.

My package came with:

Vanilla Bliss Body Butter - 24 hours hydration for all skin types.  This body butter smells incredible.  I have crazy dry skin during the winter and this body butter really helps.  I couldn't stop smelling my hands after I applied this.  I love the smell of vanilla.  I know a few male friends who goes crazy over the smell of vanilla so don't be shocked when men starts sniffing you.

Vanilla Bliss Bath Crystals - Sprinkle some of the salt in hot water and soak yourself in a bed of vanilla.  The smell of vanilla helps me feel calm and relaxed during a long hard day at work.  I feel refreshed after using it.

Vanilla Bliss Lip Balm - You know how much I love lip balms and I am pretty excited to try this one.  It is in this unique dome shaped packaging that you don't need to twist the contents or dip your fingers into.  Just pucker up and smoother it all over your lips.  Now your lips can be kiss-ready in no time!

Ginger Sparkle Body Polish - this body polish will strip any dry skin and leave your body all nice and smooth.  This body scrub is incredible.  Not only does it smells wonderful (like ginger ale) it is not too harsh on my skin.

Don't forget to check out The Body Shop during your holiday shopping.  You will never know what you will end up walking out with.   The Body Shop has a fantastic Holiday Collection you don't want to miss. You might even be able to cross someone off your list.

BIC Flex 4 ~ #Review & #Giveaway

I prefer a clean shaven man.  I don't like facial burns when I kiss my husband.  Even my daughter agree because she gets a hug, a kiss, and a ouchie from her dad.  I am not the only one because two-thirds of women are with me that they rather kiss men with smooth shaven face.  Who wants to kiss sand paper?

BIC Flex 4 features:
  • "4 flexible blades that individually adjust to your skin for an ultra-smooth shave
  • Pivoting hear and heavy handle with a texture grip for superior control
  • Lubricating strip with aloe & vitamin E for a smooth glide
This part is my husband's review on the razor:
"Times have changed.  It used to be that the words "disposable razor" conjured images of those cheap, plastic single blade razors you get at hotels.  You know the ones - all white and innocent looking until they tear your face apart.  So I was extremely hesitant when I was given these BIC razors to try.  Would my face look like it lost a fight with a pack of wild cats?

I'll save your the suspense - I think I am ready to replace my existing razor - the kind that you buy expensive reloads for.  My shave with the BIC 4 was smooth, painless, and uneventful - the way a good shave truly should be.  I honestly couldn't tell I was using a disposable razor, and finished without a single nick or area of razor burn.  And these are good quality razor - the lubricant strip still looks new, so I can use it for at least a few more shaves before moving on to the next one. "

Ladies and gents, that is all he wrote.  He loves to be my guinea pig.

This razor retails for C$6.69 - C$8.99 at most drug stores across Canada.

I believe every male stocking should have a razor or two in it - why not the BIC Flex 4.  This razor will be perfect for all the males in your family.

BIC would like to offer one of my readers a BIC prize pack valued at more than $50 to help them prepare their prince charming kissable ready for this holiday season.

Soda Stream Canada ~ Review

I was over the moon when I received my Soda Stream starter kit.
It is one of those items that I have been eyeing for a long time.  Now I don't have to wait and it is now sitting in my kitchen and being used often.

Who is Soda Stream?
They have a fascinating history that dates back to 1903.  After so many years of improving and re-branding their product, they have become a chic soda maker that every household should have.

We are big pop drinkers but over time we had to cut back because of the increase of cost on pops.  According to their calculation, you could save money using this machine than purchasing pop/soda at the store.  Not including the cost of the machine, Soda Stream states that my machine, which makes 1L bottle would cost me $0.30 per litre and a flavoured for about $0.88 per litre before shipping charges.  Hence it will cost me $1.76 for a two litre bottle.  It is still cheaper if regular pop does not go on sale.  Also, they have a huge selection of flavours that are not available elsewhere.  Not all flavours that are sold in the US are available in Canada so I will just add that to my shopping list when I go across the border next year.

One cylinder of CO2 can carbonate up to 60 liters of water.  When I am finished with the cylinder, I can go to one of the participating retailers and to return it and pay for a new one cylinder for C$17.99.  I am only paying for the carbon.  It is like a propane tank exchange program - exchange a empty one for a full one.

Three (3) pumps of carbon is equivalent to a standard carbon in other drinks.  If I want more or less, I can determine how much carbon I want in it by pumping more or less into the water.  It does not matter what water I use like tap water or bottle water, it taste better if the water has been chilled first.

Top 10 12 reasons why you should get one this holiday season:
1. It will look very chic in your kitchen
2. It is a conversational piece that everyone would want to try and taste it.
3. It is lightweight
4. Does not need to be plugged into electrical socket
5. Easy to use, the directions are so easy to understand.
6. Environmentally friendly
7. Healthier choice
8. It is available online and in selected retail stores
9. Tastes great
10. Huge selection of flavours and even more are coming out
11. In the long run, this machine would be more cost effective than regular priced pop bottles.
12. You control the carbon that is in the drink

This holiday season, don't forget to check out Soda Stream.  You might be surprised how much you might fall in love with it and walk away with one or two...(don't forget one for the office or a loving relative).  Hands down, this is a great product.

Check the website for your closest retailer like The Bay, Sears, Home Outfitters, and Canadian Tire.

Lovable Labels: Holly Jolly ~ Review & Giveaway

Lovable Labels's limited edition Holly Jolly Gift Pack is now available for C$24.99.
They are dishwasher, microwavable, and dryer safe.
The gift pack contains over 90 labels:
  • 15 Sticker Labels
  • 40 Slimline Labels
  • 12 Shoe Labels
  • 24 Press & Stick Clothing Dots
  • 2 Metal Tags
There are 7 different holiday theme designs to choose from.
I was given the opportunity to try a pack and I had a hard time choosing which one to order.  In the end I have chosen the Winter Wonderland theme.

This would be a great stocking stuffer or present for moms with kids.  This would also be a great for kids at any age because they can label their own things.  They are pre-wrapped in a nice red foil package so you have one less thing to worry about.

I have used Lovable Labels for years and I know they will last you a long time.  My child's Day Care and school always wants my children's clothing labeled and ordering these labels was one of the best solutions.  I have labeled everything from lunch boxes to umbrellas.  The rule of thumb, anything that they use is labeled.

Since you are already there and shopping, I have a coupon code that will offer anyone $5 off any purchase of $25 or more and it is valid until December 31th 2012 - DECBLOG41

Zaggora ~ Review

Who is Zaggora?  A UK company that sells womens athletic wear made from their Celu-Lite Technology fabric.

Zaggora Logo

The Zaggora Hooded Body Blazer is made from their Celu-Lite Techonology fabric which they claim can "harness the body's natural heat during exercise which may help to increase the metabolic rate."

The features:
  • UV protection
  • Water-proof Hood
  • Eco-Friendly
  • Fast Drying
  • Ice Cool Touch
  • Burn More calories
  • Odour control
Interesting fact - this hoodie's "fabric woven from recycled nano sized coffee grounds, PVC bottles and ice cool crystals."

Inventory- They sell blazers, hooded blazers, hot tops, coola bras, and hot pants.
Shipping - Free shipping if you order two or more items.  Shipping using first class on UK's Royal Mail.
Website - Easy to use and has a detailed description on sizing.
Delivery - Took over two weeks for my blazer to arrive to Canada (this will vary depending on where you live)

When I first looked at it, it appears to be made of material similar to a scuba bodysuit or a heavy padded cycling shorts.  It is slim fitting but not too tight that you can't breathe.  Once I put it on, I noticed how warm I was.  I can fully agree that this blazer contains your body heat as mentioned on their website.  I was surprised at how fast I warmed up once I put it on.  This hooded body blazer is perfect for our crazy Canadian weathers.

If you have someone on your Christmas list who is very athletic, be sure to check out Zaggora Hooded Body Blazer.  They might worship the ground you have walked on.

Christmas Gifts ~ Mom

Just before I wrap them up.  I wanted to show you what I have purchased for my girlfriend's sons.
I purchase Christmas present through the year to get the best deal.
The cookie cutters were from William Sonoma on sale for $4.99 (Reg $29.95) and the Toothbrush holder was from Walmart on sale for $4.50 (Reg $9).  Now I wished I bought another cookie cutter set to keep for myself.

I have to assess my list but I am either done or almost done with my Christmas shopping.  I have even finished creating my Christmas card list.

Booster Juice ~ Review

I remember my first experience with Booster Juice - it was over 10 years ago.  When I never heard of the store and thought I would give them a try.
They had a great menu with so many options - I wanted to try them all.
Not only did their smoothies taste great but you have an option to add protein shots - great idea!
Each one is made with fresh ingredients with no clean ups required.  If you have used a juicer before, you know what I mean.

If you need a little more than just a smoothie, they also offer panini, wraps, and quesadillas.

Booster Juice started in Edmonton and now has grown to 300 stores worldwide - GO Canadians!
I love reading success stories where it all started with just an idea or a need.

Booster Juice was very kind to send me some of their Banana & Strawberry mints and Booster Branded Lunch Bags.  My family tried the mints and loved them.  It is sweet at first and then hits you with the mint.  My daughter saw the Lunch Bag and wanted to take it with her to school everyday.

If you need something to boost up your day after a good work out or during office hours, I think Booster Juice will have something on their menu that will fill your needs.

Neal Brothers Foods ~ Review & Giveaway

A huge box came from Neal Brothers Foods to my front door and my eldest daughter was very excited to see what was inside.
Inside the box there was a variety of delicious cheesy chips and yummy popcorns.
The first bags I opened were both the cheesy chips - Organic Cheese puffs and the Organic Cheese pops.
Both my daughter didn't dig into them - they dove in face first.
It was all quiet in the house except for the munching until they were fighting over who gets to hold on to the bowl of the cheesies.
These cheese snacks from Neal Brothers Foods are certified organic, gluten, and wheat free.

We couldn't stop here, we decided to opened the Sweet & Salty Kettle corn and the good old fashion popcorn.
Both taste so good that I had to force myself to stop or I would have eaten the bag in one sitting.
Their popcorn snacks are also certified organic.

When my husband lay eyes on them, he was not sure what to make out of them since it said "organic" but after the first taste he couldn't stop eating them.  Terms like "organic" tend to have a certain connotation (to him) - not a lot of people expect them to taste good while still being really pure and healthy.  But, did these chips surprise (him) in a huge way.  They taste absolutely incredible, and they just feel better...none of the junk food remorse.

These bags did not stand a chance with my family.  Within days these bags were demolished like they never existed.  I believe my favourite one is the Sweet & Salty Kettle corn.  I love popcorn with a hint of sweetness.  I just wish the movie theater sells them.  However, I do want to mention that the Cheese pops brought back some happy childhood memories.  I remember eating something similar back in the days.

Neal Brothers Foods has array of different products like pretzles, tortillas, dressings, and sauces.  They are available at your local grocery store like Sobey's, Longos, and Loblaw's to name a few.

If you are planning a Christmas or New Year Eve party don't forget to add some Neal Brothers Foods products on your shopping list.  Your guests will love you for it.

Anyone interested in trying some Neal Brothers Foods products?
Neal Brothers Foods would like to offer one of my reader a mix of Neal Brothers prize pack.  The prize will consist of 1 Cheese Puffs, 1 Cheese pops, 1 Kettlecorn popcorn, 1 Regular popcorn, 1 hat, and 1 tee shirt.  Canadians ONLY. Good Luck!

Ferrero Rocher ~ My favourite

One of my favourite chocolates.
It was on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart for $5.99 and I couldn't resist.
I ended up purchasing two boxes!
I was only going to keep one box but I doubt that will happen.
I better hide these from my husband or there wont be any left!
No, I am not sharing and I wish their coconut version comes in a box this size.

David's Tea ~ Review

As you know, I am a big tea drinker.
David's Tea is one of the stores I go in order to feed my tea-drinking addiction.
Did you know that David's Tea started in Montreal and then opened their first doors in downtown Toronto.
From there they have expanded all over Canada and the United States.

It might be overwhelming with so many teas to choose from.
Not to worry.  If you talk to any of their sales associates, they are always friendly, patient, and willing to help.

In each bag there are steeping instructions to create the perfect tea.
There is also an indicator of how strong the caffeine is in the tea.

David's Tea was wonderful to let me sample one of their winter collections - Chocolate Chili Chai, and their tea of the month Vanilla Orchid.

Chocolate Chili Chai - David's Tea created a new meaning to "hot chocolate" when mixing chocolate and chili in the tea.  This will sure warm you up during cold winter mornings or evenings.  This is my first time trying chocolate in my tea and I loved the experience.

Vanilla Orchid - The perfect blend of oolong and vanilla flavouring tea.  David's Tea delivers premium oolong from China, Huang Jin Gui.  If they serve this at dim sum I would never leave the restaurant.

If you are shopping for a tea lover in your family this Holiday season, I believe David's Tea would be a good place to start.

Joe Boxer Canada ~ Review & Giveaway

Hey, Joe Boxer Canada...you look different.
Yes, that's right, Joe Boxer Canada has just rebranded themselves recently.
Same high quality with a slight different packaging.

Both my husband and I were thrilled to try on a pair of Joe Boxer underwear.  Yes, we each receive our own pair.  I am not sharing.
Don't worry, we won't flash you.  This is a family friendly blog anyways. Ha!

We tried on the Joe Boxer colour fitted underwear line that was recently launched in September 2012 at The Bay.
It comes in 9 different funky colours and styles.  There are 8 different patterns, all of which are available at The Bay and soon will be up on their website.

This will include both our thoughts and opinions on our new underwear.

Female (my opinion):
I really enjoyed trying Joe Boxer underwear.  They almost feels like a pair of running shorts, only better.  They are soft and comfortable and I could see myself wearing them often.  I just did the laundry the other day and the softness does not disappear. I wouldn't be surprised if others would steal  borrow their significant others' Joe Boxer's underwear.  If you are considering purchasing one for this Holiday, I suggest you purchase two so you can keep one for yourself.

Male (my husband's opinion - word for word):
"I have always been a fan of Joe Boxer products.  Some of my favorite underwear, pajama pants and shirts are branded by Joe Boxer, so when I was presented with the opportunity to try a new product by them, I jumped at the chance.
The underwear are comfortable - I know that is a broad generalization, but I don't have any other word that can summarize how they feel.  From the moment you pull them on, you can feel the high quality of the underwear, and they feel absolutely fantastic.  There are times I can barely tell that they are on, which can be a good or bad thing depending on the circumstances!
They fill well, and are close to the body while providing enough room and comfort for movement.  The cotton is high quality, and allows for breath-ability so that you don't feel uncomfortable during hot weather.
I love the design variety.  I received the light blue underwear but there are multitude of options to appeal to any fashion sense out there."

Anyone interested in winning their very own Joe Boxer Underwear?
Great!  Joe Boxer would like to offer one of my reader a mix of Joe Boxer prize pack.  The prize will consist of 1 Colour boxer, 1 Modern Stretch boxer (2 pack), and a Christmas boxer in the size of the winner.  Canadians ONLY. Good Luck!

This contest will run from November 7th to November 21th, 2012 (midnight EST).  *Note: you have to complete the "tasks" of your choosing in order to win the prize*

Sebastian Professional Trilliance Conditioner
Full Size 250ml @ 16.59, Sample Size 50ml @ $3.32

Gillette Venus
Full Size $16.99

The value of my box is $79+

The Bottom Line
Product received - 3/5
The surprise - 3/5
Favourite product received -  Zoya
Overall reaction - *sigh*  more razor...this will be added to my collection of razors.  One of them last me for months.  The nail polish colour looks amazing on me.  I love it - two coats and then I am done.  The lipstick duo is very interesting and I love the smell from the gloss.  Its not a bad box but I can do without another razor.  Nope, no golden ticket here. I believe the golden ticket is a pair of earrings that is worth $50.  However, I have yet to see what they look like so I don't know if it worth $50.  Unfortunately, Glossybox have hiked their price by 40% which I am not pleased.  For $21, I do hope I like everything or it wont be worth it.

Do you like this month's box?

Topbox Special Edition: Lise Watier ~ Unboxing

You wont believe the stress I went through to get this special edition Topbox
In the end I did manage to receive one and I am glad that I did.

In a pretty pink tube I received:

Plumpissimo Le Gloss - Nude
Full Size 6.2 ml @ $21, Sample Size 1.5 ml @ $5.08

Hydrasmart 3D Hydration Gel-Creme
Full Size 50 ml @ $40, Sample Size 30 ml @ $24
For normal and combination skin.

Frisson Neiges Twist & Spray Set Purse Set with Refill
Full Size 30ml @ $40, 50ml @ $59, Sample Size 2 vials 20ml each @ $26.67 each (I assumed)  Could this  be a full size sample?

The value of the this box is $82+ (I think my calculations are wrong)

The Bottom Line
Product received - 5/5
The surprise - 5/5
Favourite product received -  Frisson Neiges
Overall reaction - I am floored when I opened my box.  I assumed it would be mini size samples, instead these are good deluxe size samples.  I am very picky with my perfumes but this one smells really good.  The hydration gel-creme is really good too.  It absorbs into my skin very quickly and it said it will lock in the moisture for 24 hours.
I think they should included in the survey to ask which Shoppers Drug Mart is the closest to you so they know how many to ship in each store and supply a few excess in case. I hope they will issue special edition boxes more often in the future.  In my opinion, I rather head over to Shoppers than Holts.  Two reasons, because Shoppers is within walking distance to me and I can afford things in Shoppers than Holts...but that is my opinion.

I hope this would be available across Canada next year.

ONE Coconut Water ~ Review & Giveaway

I am a huge fan of the coconut.
I love coconut juice, Bounty chocolate bars, coconut covered shrimps, and coconut flavoured ice-cream.
Coconut water is now my new favourite drink.

What is coconut water?
It is the water inside when you crack open a young green coconut.
It is an all natural sport's drink...actually it is better than a sports drink.
It has more potassium, magnesium with less sodium and sugar.

O.N.E. Coconut Water has been hitting our Canadian shelves recently.
They started in 2005 in Southern California and they are launching into Europe, Canada, and Southeastern Asia in 2012.

O.N.E. Coconut Water is 100% natural, not from concentrated.  There is no sugar added (except for the Splash line), no fat, no cholesterol and it is gluten free.

It is available in most groceries stores or discount stores.
If you cant find them they are available at Amazon.com.

O.N.E. Coconut Water has 4 flavours: original, mango, guava, and pineapple.

O.N.E. Coconut Water was generous to send me a case to try and I absolutely love it.  I love it so much that I am not sharing them with the rest of my family.

Do you want to try one yourself?
ONE Coconut Water would like to offer two winners a free case each . Open to US residents only.

Elizabeth Grant: Shades of Romance Eyeshadow Palette ~ Review

I received a wonderful announcement that I was a prize winner to receive Elizabeth Grant products.
The lip balm was the only product I used by Elizabeth Grant.
This eyeshadow palette was given to me as a additional prize for waiting patiently to clear up errors for my shipment.

Do you know Elizabeth Grant is a Canadian Company in Toronto?
Who knew?
Her life story is interesting - from a home business to a sucessful international company.

This pallet includes:
Butterfly Kisses
Fairy Tale Dusk/Shimmer
Flirty Romance
Velvet Dream
(Not sure which name is for which colour)

It is a very pretty eyeshadow palette.
I really think the packaging is a bit interesting - not your ordinary case.
The colour is very light on my skin and blends quite nicely.

Elizabeth Grant products are sold on their online store and The Shopping Channel.  Once in awhile I have seen Elizabeth Grant products pop up from time to time.
